I have been dog sitting in the San Diego area for over a month and was super excited to stumble across this bar. The staff are super friendly and remembered me even though I had only been in a few times. There are comfy booths, a good amount of bar seating, a pool table and games. It’s a great place for a get together with your pups in tow! Good drink prices for the area and free popcorn! All in all a good time.

I’ve been in the San Diego area for about 5 weeks and every time I have come into this bar there has been a sweet pup to greet me! They have great pub food, lots of space inside with tables lots of seating at the bar as well as an outside patio. I would highly recommend stopping by this bar with your dog. It’s also walking distance to other dog friendly bars and restaurants. This neighborhood is perfect for pet parents!

During my dog sit in San Diego I stopped in to Point Break and quickly made it a regular stop while I was here for 5 weeks. The prices are great, the staff is nice and accommodating and best of all: the dogs are allowed inside! I tend to avoid the sun and heat, so I’m always happy to be able to sit inside with well behaved dogs. The happy hour food/drink prices are solid as well. Today I was able to meet the owner’s two sweet babes Bodhi and Mini. Guess which one is which! LOL. Highly recommend.

Over The Horizon has a great large outside area for dogs and kids alike to run around while their adult family members can grab a drink inside. They allow well behaved dogs inside on a leash. They provide water bowls and there is a Gustard’s Custard’s attached, that has pup cups! When they first opened one of the staff adopted a foster dog from me! So, clearly I’m biased. 😛

I will never skip Poe’s tavern when I am out and about with my foster dogs on Sullivan’s island. The staff love the dogs and give them plenty of attention. The locals and regulars will bring their well behaved dogs, so it’s a nice place for them to get socialized. There is seating at the outside bar that is a little sheltered if you’re like me and need to hide from the sun, but the outside seating is nicely covered and comfortable as well. The food and drinks are fabulous too, so everyone wins with a trip to Poe’s! (Water bowls are available on the patio.)

I have brought so many foster dogs to the James Island location! I have even found some furever homes there. The back area is perfect for a family with a dog to visit. There is a space where the kids and pups can run them around with others. I tend to sit in the front bar with the pups to get eyes on them from everyone entering and leaving. They always provide water bowls and it’s set far enough back from the road where the dogs aren’t anxious. The staff is very dog friendly and just great overall.
